Kirstie Dickens, 37, of Northcote Terrace, Barry appeared before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court where she indicated guilty pleas to multiple theft offences and admitted failing to surrender to court bail.

The court heard that Dickens committed a number of thefts during March and April.

Among the offences were the theft of 24 packets of chocolate Mini Eggs worth £60 from Tesco Express in Barry on March 22, the theft of several blocks of cheese worth £65 from Tesco Express in Penarth on April 4, and the theft of a case of Cadbury Biscoff chocolate bars from Tesco Express in Barry on April 7.

She also admitted stealing a packet of meat and several laundry detergent products valued at £130 from Tesco Express in Barry on April 7, as well as five jars of coffee worth £40.35 from the same retailer on April 9.

A further charge related to the theft of several pairs of tracksuit bottoms worth £450 from Urban Outfitters in Cardiff city centre on April 27.

In addition to the shoplifting offences, Dickens pleaded guilty to failing without reasonable cause to surrender to custody at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on June 9, having previously been released on bail by police on May 7.

A separate charge alleging that she failed to surrender as soon as reasonably practicable was withdrawn in favour of the other bail offence.

Magistrates adjourned the case for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Dickens was remanded in custody and is due to return to Cardiff Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on July 13.
