Bass contest and author visits – some of Penarth’s events

Inaugural Solo Bass Guitar Contest & Bass Expo

The UK bass community comes together at Penarth Ex-Serviceman’s Club for the first-ever dedicated solo bass competition.

Expect “A Celebration of Everything Bass” with live performances, an interactive expo featuring top brands and rare gear, hands-on demos, industry networking, and exclusive giveaways.

Registration is open for competitors, and attendance is free for non-competitors – just sign up for priority access. Saturday, September 5, 2pm to 11pm.

Robert Harris: Agrippa

Griffin Books hosts bestselling author Robert Harris at the Paget Rooms to celebrate his new novel, Agrippa.

Dive into ‘a compelling exploration of friendship and power’ set in Ancient Rome, as Mr Harris discusses his latest work.

Tickets include options with a signed hardback, with event-only and student prices available. Saturday, September 5, 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Singing and Social Groups for Older Adults

With Music in Mind invites older adults to join their friendly, informal singing and social group at St. Augustine’s Parish Hall. Sessions are £5, carers go free, and the first session is complimentary. Booking is essential due to limited numbers. Wednesday, September 9, 10am to 12pm.

Meg Mason: Sophie, Standing There

Award-winning author Meg Mason visits Penarth to talk about her poignant, funny new novel, Sophie, Standing There.
