Boy, 16, dies after Cardiff crash between car and cyclist

A 16-year-old boy has died following a crash in a Cardiff city suburb. The incident happened at around 12.25pm on Wednesday at the junction of Penarth Road and Clare Road, Grangetown. The road was shut for around nine hours.

A South Wales Police spokesman confirmed that sadly a 16-year-old boy has died. His family is being supported by specially trained officers.

The force urged the public to refrain from sharing distressing footage of the incident online.

A spokesman said: “Officers are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a car and a cyclist which took place on the junction of Penarth Road and Clare Road, Cardiff at around 12:25pm today.

“A 16-year-old boy from Grangetown has died as a result of the collision. His family is being supported by specially-trained officers.

“We are aware of footage of this incident being shared on Facebook and other forms of social media. Please consider the impact on the family of the victim and refrain from sharing this further.”
