The Barry Island Food Festival will take place on 6 and 7 June, transforming the beachfront into a lively market filled with food stalls, independent makers and live entertainment. Visitors can expect a variety of street food served from the iconic beach huts, alongside stalls from regional producers and craft traders offering handmade goods and unique products.
Organisers say the event aims to showcase some of the best food, music and creative businesses from across the region while creating a relaxed seaside atmosphere for visitors.
The festival is being organised by Indie Collectives, food blogger Llio Angharad and events company 96 Events. Together, the team hopes to bring together a mix of well-known street food vendors, musicians and independent businesses for the two-day celebration.
Set against the backdrop of Barry Island’s coastline, the event is expected to offer visitors the chance to explore the market, sample a range of food and enjoy live performances throughout the weekend.
Vale of Glamorgan Council runs a series of themed weekends under the “Barry Island Weekenders” banner, transforming the promenade and gardens with different forms of entertainment. Events have included Isle of Fire, featuring fire shows, lantern displays and roaming performers, alongside themed weekends focused on sport, street theatre, magic and dance. Breakout Barry has also brought DJ sets and dance showcases to outdoor stages along the seafront.
Late summer evenings are marked by Cinema by the Sea, an open-air film series held in the seafront gardens during August. The screenings are promoted as a relaxed way for families and visitors to round off the school holidays while enjoying films outdoors.
Sport also plays a major role in the resort’s events calendar. Barry Island regularly hosts a sprint triathlon and the Barry Island 10K, both attracting runners, spectators and supporters to the promenade and beach.
Elsewhere, the Barry Island Transport Festival showcases heritage buses and classic vehicles along the seafront.
