Discussing the move, a Nestle spokesperson said: “We know that KitKat Vegan has been popular for those looking for dairy or vegan alternatives.
“Unfortunately, global demand has been reducing to the point that production was making manufacturing more and more complex and we have now made the difficult decision to discontinue the product.”
According to the Metro, it is understood that the brand will be focussing its energies on “classic” chocolate bars.
The brand acknowledged that the controversial move would cause “some disappointment” among fans but that there would still be time for Brits to stock up.
The spokesperson added: “It will still be available in the UK and Ireland until the summer.”

Nestle fans were understandably shocked and upset by the news with one person asking: “Nah the vegan KitKat is being discontinued?! Why are we going backwards.”
Another added: “I love these, [and] so do my kids! Maybe if they’d sold them in multi-pack and bright the price down, and put them next to the regular KitKats instead of only in the free from aisle.”
Others said the decision would only make things “harder” for vegans with some labelling the move “cruel”.
