High fuel prices mean many drivers are looking for ways to cut costs at the pump. So, motorists may want to take advantage of a money-saving deal offering £5 cashback when spending £10 or more on petrol or diesel.
The increased costs have been attributed to a spike in oil prices in mid-January, which saw the cost of a barrel exceed 80 US dollars for several days. A slight weakening of the pound against the dollar has also made wholesale fuel more expensive, the RAC said.
The £5 offer is available exclusively to new TopCashback members, giving them a simple way to reduce fuel expenses. To take advantage, shoppers need to sign up and submit their receipt through the cashback site.

How to claim £5 petrol or diesel cashback
To redeem this deal, drivers need to keep hold of their fuel receipt and ensure it includes the following details:
- Date and time of purchase
- Fuel station name
- Type of fuel purchased
- A clear photo of the receipt must then be uploaded to a TopCashback account, and the £5 cashback will be deposited within 30 days. If you spend exactly £10, this cashback effectively halves the cost of your fuel.
This offer applies to all UK petrol stations, meaning drivers can fill up at a location that’s convenient for them.
Eligible retailers include:
- Supermarket petrol stations – Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda, and the Co-operative
- Major fuel brands – Esso, BP, Texaco, Shell, Gulf, Jet, Murco, and Total
Simply purchase at any of these stations, keep your receipt, and upload it before March 31, 2025, at 23:59 to receive the cashback.
Extra ways to save on petrol and diesel
Aside from this TopCashback offer, drivers can reduce petrol costs by taking advantage of loyalty schemes. David Thomson managing Director of Plates Express says:
“With the rising cost of living, every little saving helps, and this deal is a great way for motorists to cut down their fuel expenses.
“Anyone looking to maximise their savings should also consider using loyalty schemes alongside cashback offers to make their money go further.”
Some of the most popular options include BPme Rewards, where customers collect points with every fuel purchase and redeem them in-store, or a Morrisons More Card, where motorists earn points on every litre of fuel, which can be converted into rewards.
