The RAC notes that hundreds are used throughout the UK, and even their shape holds significance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A circular road sign gives instructions, a triangular sign delivers warnings, whilst a rectangular sign provides information. Nevertheless, one sign is often confused with another, which could result in dangerous situations if misinterpreted, reports <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/life-style\/life\/2175830\/uk-drivers-road-sign-meaning\" rel=\"nofollow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">the Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A red triangle displaying two vertical black lines signals that the road will narrow on both sides. However, this sign indicates the end of a dual carriageway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Explaining the difference, the RAC stated: &#8220;The &#8216;dual carriageway ends&#8217; sign appears in a red triangle. This unusual sign, featuring a red border and a completely blank white centre, signifies that no vehicles are allowed to enter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">According to the Highway Code, this sign marks a road that is prohibited to all vehicular traffic, making it illegal for drivers to proceed beyond that point.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Breaking this rule could result in substantial fines and penalty points.
