\n The initiative sees officers engaging with hotels, licensed premises, shops and taxi firms to help staff recognise the warning signs of both criminal and sexual exploitation.\n<\/p>\n
\n The visits form part of Operation Makesafe, a national campaign aimed at educating those working in the hospitality and transport sectors about how to spot concerns and report them.\n<\/p>\n
\n The activity also coincides with Child Exploitation Awareness Day.\n<\/p>\n
\n Police say workers in public-facing roles can play a crucial part in identifying suspicious behaviour and protecting vulnerable young people.\n<\/p>\n
\n Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Jones said: \u201cIf you are working in a hotel, shop, licensed premise or drive a taxi, you have a vital role to play in identifying suspicious behaviour and helping us protect children from exploitation.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThe more we can do to improve people\u2019s awareness and vigilance around the signs to look out for, the more we can reduce the opportunities for children to be victimised in this way.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cWorking with our partners, we will continue to raise awareness of safeguarding issues and make sure that as many people as possible have access to the necessary support and training to spot the signs of child sexual exploitation and how to safeguard children.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n Businesses are being encouraged to familiarise themselves with the guidance available through Operation Makesafe, including materials that can be shared with staff to help improve awareness.\n<\/p>\n
\n The campaign is part of ongoing efforts by South Wales Police and partner organisations to tackle exploitation and safeguard children across the region.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
