{"id":158302,"date":"2026-05-18T14:10:32","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T14:10:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vale50plus.org\/clone\/met-office-forecasting-26c-summer-sunshine-in-uk-this-week\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T14:10:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T14:10:32","slug":"met-office-forecasting-26c-summer-sunshine-in-uk-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vale50plus.org\/clone\/met-office-forecasting-26c-summer-sunshine-in-uk-this-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Met Office forecasting 26C summer sunshine in UK this week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"subscription-content\">\n<p>\n  Parts of the country could reach highs of 26C by Friday, as warm, settled weather is expected to arrive just in time for the bank holiday weekend.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The warm weather could continue into and beyond the bank holiday too, forecasters have said.\n<\/p>\n<h2>\n  Met Office forecasting 26C summer sunshine in UK this week<br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p>\n  Met Office forecaster Craig Snell said: &#8220;The first half of this week is still going to be changeable, if not unsettled, across parts of the UK.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Temperatures at the start of the week still a little subdued for the time of the year, as we head towards the weekend we are expecting to see a change.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Monday will be a day of sunshine and showers, some could be heavy with the occasional rumble of thunder, before a band of rain moves across most of the UK later in the day.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  On Wednesday, there will be a mixture of sunshine and showers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The outlook remains unsettled through Tuesday, bringing further wet and blustery conditions.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  However, by Wednesday, temperatures in southern England are expected to reach around 20\u00b0C.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DYSKJhzIOWm\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\"&#10;            background: #fff;&#10;            border: 0;&#10;            border-radius: 3px;&#10;            box-shadow: 0 0 1px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5), 0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.15);&#10;            margin: 1px;&#10;            max-width: 540px;&#10;            min-width: 326px;&#10;            padding: 0;&#10;            width: 99.375%;&#10;            width: -webkit-calc(100% - 2px);&#10;            width: calc(100% - 2px);&#10;            \">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\n  The weather is set to improve further on Thursday and Friday, with drier, sunnier conditions and maximum temperatures possibly reaching 26C in the South East.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mr Snell said it\u2019s still too early to predict how long the warm spell will last, but the outlook remains promising.\n<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>\n  <strong>Recommended reading:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>\n  He said: &#8220;The best of the sunshine across the bank holiday weekend will probably be across England and Wales.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Temperatures still above normal, potentially very warm again, but it\u2019s a bit too far in the future to get maximums.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Indications are at the moment that the bank holiday looks a lot better than what we\u2019ve had over the last week or so.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong><em>Have you got any plans for the May bank holiday?
