[some emphasis, links added]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cAround 14.0-13.9 cal kyr BP, a short-lived year-round, ice-free, open ocean occurred.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During the Early to Middle Holocene (10,000 to 4,000 years ago), Arctic sea ice was seasonal, dominated by first-year ice that <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/the-death-of-the-melting-arctic-sea-ice-scam\/\">did not survive the summer melt season<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe Holocene Yermak Plateau is characterized by a seasonal sea ice cover, which may consist mainly of first-year sea ice \u2026 a large part of first-year ice, as opposed to seasonally drifted multi-year ice.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Today, at 430 ppm CO2, Arctic sea ice is increasingly first-year, but a \u201cmulti-year environment\u201d persists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Multi-year sea ice has survived at least one summer melt season, and it continues to thicken over multiple years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The current phase is similar to the <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/researchers-find-arctic-region-was-warmer-10000-years-ago-than-today\/\">sea ice conditions<\/a> that predominated ~16,000 years ago, or during the last glacial.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201c\u2026a marginal sea ice cover ca. 16 cal kyr BP [characterized by] first-year sea ice in a multi-year sea ice environment, a setting not unlike today.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If the Arctic Ocean can be ice-free year-round when CO2 was 230 ppm, but is dominated by multi-year ice when CO2 concentration is 430 ppm, this does not support the alarmist claims that high CO2 concentrations are responsible for <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/climate-records-media-arctic-warming\/\">enhanced Arctic sea ice melt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_74355\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-74355\" style=\"width: 474px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/climatechangedispatch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/mayers-abstract.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-74355 \" style=\"border: 0.5px solid #000;
