[some emphasis, links added]<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/al-gore-climate-predictions-new-ice-age\/\">Al Gore<\/a> to Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/rand-paul-aoc-climate-doomsday\/\">Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/the-royal-hypocrisy-of-eco-warrior-prince-charles\/\">King Charles<\/a> to United Nations Secretary-General <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/uns-hyperbolic-chief-claims-fossil-fuels-cooking-our-planet-pacific-islands-under-threat\/\">Antonio Guterres<\/a>, the forecasts of doom have been <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/climate-doomsday-predictions-that-flopped-spectacularly\/\">raining down<\/a> on us for decades.<\/p>\n<p><strong>That we are able to note this today is remarkable, because one crank is sure that 2026 is the year of our extinction.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t imagine there will be a human on the planet in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/453353528124367\/posts\/26577067798659583\/\">10 years<\/a>,\u201d Guy McPherson said when <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/retired-professor-predicts-mass-human-extinction-from-climate-change-in-10-years\/\">asked in 2016<\/a> how much time the human race had.<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fjames.neighbors.2025%2Fvideos%2F1834176957541245%2F%3Fidorvanity%3D453353528124367&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re headed for a temperature in that span that is at or near the highest temperature experienced on Earth in the last 2 billion years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>McPherson predicted an \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/reliable-data-global-temperature-record\/\">exponential change<\/a>\u201d in the global temperature was coming hard and fast.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So is this fellow an escaped mental patient?<\/p>\n<p>No. He\u2019s an academic, now, according to his website, a University of Arizona professor emeritus of natural resources and the environment.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s also a <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20260519134854\/https:\/\/www.guymcpherson.net\/about.html\">certified grief-recovery specialist<\/a>, which seems like a good business to be in for anyone who causes emotional trauma by predicting that the end of humanity is nigh. At least one person blames McPherson for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/wattsupwiththat.com\/2021\/10\/09\/the-old-farmers-almanac-seasonal-forecasts\/\">most of my anxiety<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Three years ago, Richard Lindzen, also a professor emeritus (of earth, atmospheric, and planetary sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology), told an interviewer that McPherson was <strong>\u201centitled to any <a href=\"https:\/\/wattsupwiththat.com\/2023\/04\/27\/dr-richard-lindzen-exposes-climate-change-as-a-politicised-power-play-motivated-by-malice-and-profit\/\">science fiction<\/a> he wishes to produce, but there\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/study-challenges-sixth-mass-extinction-claims\/\">no scientific evidence<\/a> [establishing his claims].\u00a0These are <a href=\"https:\/\/climatechangedispatch.com\/heres-how-we-know-the-climate-crisis-is-not-about-the-climate\/\">scare stories<\/a>.
