Transport for Wales is encouraging passengers to plan ahead as essential rail improvements take place across the <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/cardiff\" rel=\"follow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Cardiff<\/a> and valleys network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Planned infrastructure improvements will close all lines through Cardiff Queen Street between Sunday, May 24 and bank holiday Monday, May 25.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">To keep passengers moving, a combination of rail replacement buses and service diversions will operate across the Cardiff and valleys network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Services will continue to run from Treherbert, <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/aberdare\" rel=\"follow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Aberdare<\/a> and Merthyr into Cardiff Central via the City Line (via Ninian Park) with rail replacement services travelling between Radyr and Llandaf, Cathays, Cardiff Queen Street and <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/cardiff-bay\" rel=\"follow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Cardiff Bay<\/a>. <strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"><em>For the biggest stories in Wales first <\/em><a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/newsletter-preference-centre\/?view=Solus&amp;mailingListId=aa0abd38-0db5-4492-99f3-e73baecff682&amp;utm_source=solusarticle\" rel=\"follow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\"><em><u>sign up to our daily newsletter here<\/u><\/em><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Meanwhile, Network Rail has confirmed it is <a aria-label=\"set to undertake work on the Severn TunnelLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/wales-news\/major-two-week-disruption-train-33972393\" rel=\"follow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">set to undertake work on the Severn Tunnel<\/a> that the company says will &#8220;make the route more reliable for years to come&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The railway between <a aria-label=\"NewportLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/newport\" rel=\"follow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">Newport<\/a> and Bristol Parkway or Filton Abbey Wood will be closed from Saturday, May 23, until the morning of Tuesday, June 9, with replacement services put in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Engineers have said they have developed an innovative new system &#8211; being installed at this scale for the first time in the world &#8211; that will significantly reduce corrosion along the Severn Tunnel, cut the need for routine maintenance and deliver a more resilient, reliable service for passengers and freight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Elsewhere, industrial action by West Midlands Railway will affect Shrewsbury &#8211; Wolverhampton and Hereford &#8211; Birmingham routes on Friday 22 and Saturday May 23.
