The funding package, totalling \u00a311.18 million across three years from April 2027, represents more than twice the \u00a35.5 million provided under the previous scheme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">HMRC stated the funds will enable organisations to support people who may find it difficult to comprehend their tax responsibilities, have complicated circumstances or lack digital access to HMRC services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Successful organisations will collaborate with HMRC&#8217;s Extra Support Team to assist customers in managing their tax affairs, navigating digital services and claiming benefits and entitlements for which they may qualify. Applications for the latest funding round can be submitted via <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.find-government-grants.service.gov.uk\/grants\/hmrc-grant-funding-programme-2027-30-1\" rel=\"nofollow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">GOV.UK<\/a> and will remain open until July 3, 2026, reports <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/hmrc-fund-helps-tax-debt-37268052\" rel=\"follow\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">the Daily Record<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">According to HMRC, more than 43,000 customers received support from grant-funded organisations between April 2025 and April 2026. She had accumulated arrears on her rent and council tax, and owed HMRC \u00a31,093, which included penalties and interest charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Following contact with a grant-funded organisation, a volunteer adviser assisted her in completing three years&#8217; worth of overdue tax returns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">While this initially pushed her tax liability up to \u00a31,824.34, the organisation then approached HMRC on her behalf and managed to have the late filing penalties and related interest charges waived.
