Farnham’s Fish and Chips in Boverton earned the honour as part of the National Fish and Chip Awards 2027, which celebrate excellence in quality, service, and sustainability across the industry.
The recognition is a major achievement for owners Dave Farnham and Sian Bevan.
Mr Farnham and Ms Bevan said: “We are absolutely thrilled to see our Boverton shop recognised among the UK’s Top 40 Takeaways.
“It’s a huge achievement for our entire team and something we’re incredibly proud of.
“We’ve always believed that great fish and chips come down to quality, consistency and the people behind the counter, and this recognition is a real reflection of the hard work our team puts in every day.
“To be recognised on a national stage, representing South Wales, is something very special to us.”
Farnham’s operates multiple sites across the Vale, including shops in Fontygary, Cowbridge, and Barry Island, all rooted in the traditional values that define the brand.
Their Barry Island branch opened in March this year, becoming their most recent aquisition and replacing longstanding chippy Boofy’s under the Western Shelter.
The owners say the award is as much about the community as it is about the business.
They said: “This is something we want to share with our customers as much as anyone.
“Without the support of the communities around our shops, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
“Our teams work incredibly hard, and we’re so proud that their efforts have been recognised.
“We’ll be celebrating this one – but we’ll also be getting straight back to doing what we love: serving award-winning fish and chips.”
The National Fish and Chip Awards are organised by the National Federation of Fish Friers and evaluate takeaways on product quality, hygiene, sustainability, customer service, and industry knowledge.
