A postman, Basílio Martins, 45, who witnessed the car a blaze at around 9am said: “The car was completely on fire.
“When I first notice what happened, the firefighters were arriving at the scene.
“The smoke was coming at me so I couldn’t see very well.

“Then the fire men started tackling the fire and then a lot of smoke came out. It smelt like plastic burning.
“I was only there for two minutes and then I went back to work because the smoke was too much.”
The firefighter extinguishing the car (Image: Basílio Martins) A fire service spokesperson said: “we received a call at approximately 9am this morning to reports of a vehicle on fire on Albert Road in Penarth.
“Crews and an appliance from Penarth attended the scene and extinguished the fire using one breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.
“The incident was left in the hands of the police.”
