Four drivers in court from Penarth, Sully and Dinas Powys

The defendants were accused of speeding, driving without a licence, using an untaxed vehicle, and having no insurance.

Their cases were heard in the magistrates’ courts in Cardiff, Swansea, Merthyr Tydfil, and Bradford.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

Lesley O’Connor, 67, of the Cogan area of Penarth, pleaded guilty to driving without a licence and speeding in a 20mph limit.

O’Connor was fined £40 and was ordered to pay a £16 surcharge. At Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on February 11, O’Connor was handed five penalty points.

Gavin Brown, of Hayes Road in Sully, was fined £440 for using an untaxed vehicle.

Brown was also ordered to pay £88.34 in back duty and £85 in costs at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on February 13.

Ryfete Dervishllari, 25, of Castle Wood Road in Sully, pleaded guilty to driving without a licence and insurance.

At Swansea Magistrates’ Court on February 10, Dervishllari was fined a total of £160, and for each offence was ordered to pay £120 in costs and a £64. The defendant was also handed seven penalty points. 

Jennifer Cooper, 62, of Sunnycroft Lane in Dinas Powys, was clocked speeding in a 30mph limit.

Cooper was sentenced to pay a £220 fine, £120 in costs, and a surcharge of £88. Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court also handed Cooper three penalty points on February 13.
