Focusing on the town’s churches and chapels, the Sacred Streets tour will take place on Sunday, July 19 and is being specially adapted for Welsh speakers.
Cllr Ian Johnson, who will lead the walk, said: “Barry’s history is all around us in the centre of town, but so much of it has changed over the years.
“This town centre tour plans to showcase some of Barry’s lost Welsh-language history for a modern audience, as well as talking about life on the dock town’s mean streets.”
The free tour will cover Holton Road and Wyndham Street, taking approximately one hour to complete.
It is on flat terrain, with no hills.
The event is organised by the Victorian Barry Experience.
He said: “When the first Victorian Barry Experience tour took place, it was clear that so many of the buildings had earlier purposes for existing.
“This was particularly the case for many of Barry’s chapels, which originally served a Welsh language audience.”
According to an 1892 attendance census, more than one in four people in Barry attended Welsh language services.
The tour begins at 2pm from the Civic Offices on Holton Road.
