There are hundreds of speed cameras across South Wales, including fixed, red light, speed-on-green, and average speed cameras.
A further 22 new fixed speed cameras went live across South Wales in 2025.
A new road safety scheme was also introduced in Cynon Valley, on the A4059 between Abercynon Roundabout and Cwmbach.
An average speed camera system was installed on the new 50mph and 40mph sections of the A4059, along with two red light/speed-on-green cameras near the Mountain Ash Southern Cross Valley Link.
Another new 20mph speed camera went live in January on Rhiwbina Hill in Cardiff.
Mobile speed cameras in South Wales during March
Motorists will also need to keep an eye out for a host of mobile speed cameras set to be active across South Wales this month, including in Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire, and the Vale of Glamorgan.

There will be mobile speed cameras on major roads, including the M4, A48, and A466.
There will also be several cameras set up by Cardiff Airport, on Fontgary Road/Rhoose Road and Porthkerry Road.
What is the penalty if you’re caught speeding?
Speeding is one of the largest contributing factors to collisions on Welsh roads, according to GoSafe – a partnership made up of authorities including the Welsh Government and Wales’ emergency services.
