Rhossili Bay, located on the Gower Peninsula, claimed the top spot in a study by GO Outdoors, which analysed average spring temperatures, rainfall, sunshine hours and Google reviews to reveal the best spring beaches across Wales.

The three-mile stretch of golden sand is known for its natural beauty, with Worms Head and Rhossili Down nearby.

The beach is also dog-friendly throughout the year, and National Trust members enjoy free parking.

Rhossili Bay Beach has been named the best beach in Wales.

Reviews call the Rhossili Bay Beach ‘one of the most beautiful beaches you will see – in the UK or even in Europe’.

The study praised the range of nearby cafes, all within a short walking distance of the beach.

In second place was Pembrokeshire’s Barafundle Bay Beach, with an overall score of 8.22 out of 10. Described by one reviewer as “like paradise,” Barafundle is likened to a Caribbean destination and sees 15mm less rain on average than Rhossili Bay Beach, and has 7 daily sunshine hours on average.

Third on the list was Traeth Mwnt in Ceredigion, recognised for its seclusion and regular dolphin sightings.

On clear days, visitors can enjoy views as far as Snowdonia.

Calum Jones, author and outdoor enthusiast at GO Outdoors, said: “As the days get longer and the weather warms up, spring is the perfect time to explore the stunning coastlines across the UK.

“When planning your spring beach trip, keep in mind that British weather can still be unpredictable.

“Bring a waterproof jacket to stay dry in case of sudden showers, choose supportive, waterproof footwear for any slippery sand or rocks, and layer your clothing so you can easily adjust to changing temperatures.”
