Companies House records show the celebrity incorporated a business on March 12 this year

Celebrities are often venturing out into new areas and one iconic chef might be doing the same. Nigella Lawson recently bagged a coveted judging spot on The Great British Bake Off replacing long-standing judge Dame Prue Leith but she looks set to have another business in the offing.

Companies House records show the 66-year-old incorporated a business called Bar Nigella Limited on March 12 this year. It lists Nigella as a director and that she’s completed all the government’s verification requirements.

It describes the business as being for “the wholesale of wine, beer, spirits and other alcoholic beverages”. However, while it was incorporated more than six months ago, little more information appears to be available.

Incorporation is the process where a new or existing business registers as a limited company. A business cannot operate as a limited company until it has been incorporated at Companies House.

It is also unclear what the public name of the business will be and whether or not it will be Bar Nigella. The other director is listed as Alexander Fane, who is CEO of the events and management company Fane.

A Fane email is listed on Nigella’s own website as the point of contact for business enquiries. Nigella was a medieval and modern languages student at Oxford University before working as a journalist and writing her first cooking book in 1998.

She rose to fame through her first TV show on Channel 4 called Nigella Bites and has since been a regular feature on our screens. She was announced as a new The Great British Bake Off judge in January with the next episode of series 13 airing on Tuesday October 13.

If she goes ahead with the new venture, Nigella will join stars like David Beckham, Snoop Dogg, Gary Barlow, and Tom Holland who have all entered the alcoholic drinks industry. DJ Charlie Sloth also invested in Swansea-based spirits firm Au Vodka, which was recently sold.

Nigella has been contacted for comment.
