In the early 1970s, the family moved to Barry Road, which remains the couple’s residence.
Over the years, Hilary and Reg became known in the community for their involvement in various activities.
The couple were active members of the Penarth Yacht Club and were known for their love of quizzes.
Hilary also took part in numerous stage productions at the Memorial Hall with the Barry Arts Centre and served on the Barry NSPCC committee.
Reg had a long career with Dow Corning, travelling extensively across Europe and maintaining friendships with his former colleagues.
After retirement, the couple took time to explore further afield, visiting places such as Boston, New York, and Canada, including a memorable visit to Niagara Falls.
Despite not being as mobile now, the pair keep up-to-date with current affairs and handle their weekly online Tesco shop.
They cherish their grandchildren and great-grandchildren and are adept at using technology to video call family members in Australia and the USA.
