How your Senedd member voted in divisive assisted dying debate

Senedd members have voted to support an assisted dying law which is currently making its way through Westminster.

The vote was not on whether they agree with assisted dying as a principle but whether they agree the country should have powers to set up assisted dying services on the NHS if the law passes in England.

MPs in the UK Parliament have backed the law and it is now making its way through the House of Lords. However there are more than 1,000 amendments being discussed. There are fears the sheer number of amendments could mean the legislation does not pass.

Because the UK law covers a devolved area, health, Senedd members were given a vote on the specifics relating to Wales.

You can read updates from the debate, as it happened, here.

Politicians from across the political spectrum had a free vote meaning they didn’t have to vote on party lines. Both the First Minister, Eluned Morgan, and health minister, Jeremy Miles, voted against.
