A dairy-free ice cream has been recalled for the second time in less than a year over fears it could contain foreign objects.
Danone USA issued the alert for its So Delicious Dairy Free Salted Caramel Cluster Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert after finding it could contain ‘small stones and other hard objects’.
The dairy-free ice cream was on shelves in pint-size orange and white tubs that were sold nationwide. They have a best-by date of up to April 2028.
The recall comes less than nine months after the same dairy-free ice cream was first recalled for exactly the same issue.
No other So Delicious branded dairy-free ice creams have been included in either recall, and no illnesses or injuries linked to the dairy-free ice creams have been reported to date.
Health officials warn that small stones and other hard objects in ice cream pose a risk of cuts, tears or bruises to the mouth and teeth if someone consumes them.
They could also pose a choking hazard if they become stuck in the throat. Very young children are thought to be particularly at risk.
Health officials have urged anyone who has a recalled product at home not to consume it but to return it to suppliers for a full refund.

Danone USA said it ordered the new recall after customers alerted it to the presence of small stones and other foreign objects in the product.
It said these objects may have ended up in the dairy-free ice cream because it contained cashews.
It was not clear how the stones and other objects entered the products, but when cashews are harvested, they are typically picked up off the ground by a person or machine.
This raises the risk that stones and other objects could accidentally also be collected and then remain in the cashew mixture if they are not removed later.
Danone USA said it was working with retailers to remove the newly recalled dairy-free ice creams from shelves.
The newly recalled dairy-free ice creams had a UPC code of 744473476138 and an item number of 136603, which are both found near the barcode.
The best-by date is printed on the bottom of the tub.
Customers have also been offered a coupon. To claim it, they have been told to contact the So Delicious Dairy Free consumer care line at 1-833-367-8975.
In the first recall in December last year, Danone USA also said it had been alerted to the presence of stones and other objects in the product by customers.
The dairy-free ice creams recalled then had a best-by date of August 2027.
At the time, the company said it had identified and corrected the issue and expected to return the dairy-free ice cream to shelves soon.
