Side extension
A proposal has been submitted for a first-storey side extension over an existing ground-floor garage at 32 Merthyr Dyfan Road, Barry.
The two-storey addition will be built on the current building footprint, meaning there will be no loss of permeable area.
No trees or hedges will be affected by the construction.
While the development offers limited opportunities for biodiversity improvements, a Schwegler 1B nest box will be installed on the exterior to encourage bird habitation, in line with RSPB guidance.
Discharge of conditions
An application has been made to discharge planning conditions related to a new dwelling proposed on a vacant site adjacent to 17 Courtenay Road, Barry.
The request covers conditions relating to means of enclosure, levels, hard and soft landscaping, biodiversity, and surface water drainage.
The approved scheme includes a new home with both vehicular and pedestrian access, parking, retaining walls of varying heights to the rear and side, and new landscaping.
