Lidl expands money-saving app feature to dozens more UK stores

Back in July, Lidl rolled out a new service to dozens of stores after customers praised a feature that helps them keep track of exactly how much they’re spending.

The Lidl & Go self-scanning service expanded to another 37 UK stores, allowing thousands more shoppers to scan items as they shop using their smartphones.

The feature, which is built into the Lidl Plus app, lets customers see their running total in real time as they move around the store, making it easier to stick to a budget and avoid surprises at the checkout.

The supermarket said the technology proved particularly popular with parents shopping with children, as well as customers who wanted greater flexibility while browsing the aisles.

Louise Weise, Lidl GB’s chief customer officer, said: “The early response from the initial phase of Lidl & Go has been really encouraging.

“Customers are telling us they value the control and visibility it gives them over their spend, and the flexibility to shop at their own pace.
