The all-day outdoor festival is taking place at Crystal Palace Bowl and includes a mix of established artists as well as rising stars.
“I have never performed here before – when I perform abroad most of the people don’t know me so they get to know me through the performance which I really love,” says Lella.
The artist is vocally trained but says she has always loved rap, which is how she got into it.
“Not everyone knows me at the [festival] because I rap in mostly Egyptian Arabic and it’s not for all the diaspora to understand, but I’m so happy to be connecting with everyone.”
The likes of Saint Levant, Dystinct and Khaled are headlining the one-day festival, which feels like a step forward for Arabic music fan Mariam Azam.
“Growing up we didn’t see ourselves in the media at all, and if we did it was never good representation,” the 24-year-old says.
“It’s just nice to have something for us, especially in London.”
Azam says she has been “counting down the days” until the festival – and she’s not the only one who’s excited.
