Police and paramedics were called to a crash on a mountain road in Bargoed
A motorcyclist is in hospital after suffering serious injuries in a crash on a mountain road.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the crash and are in police custody.
Police were called alongside paramedics to a crash between a car and a motorbike in Gelligaer Common in Bargoed at around 8pm on Tuesday.
The male motorcyclist remains in hospital with serious injuries.
A 48-year-old man and a 34-year-old man have both been arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving while unfit through drugs, and grievous bodily harm.
Both remain in police custody at this time.
A spokesman for Gwent Police said: “We received a report of a road traffic collision on Gelligaer Common Road, Bargoed, at around 7.50pm on Tuesday, June 23.
“Officers attended alongside paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance.
“The collision involved a motorbike and a car; the rider of the motorbike was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“A 48-year-old man and a 34-year-old man have both been arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving whilst unfit through drugs, and grievous bodily harm.
“Both men remain in police custody at this time.”
Officers investigating the collision would like to speak to any motorists who were travelling on Gelligaer Common Road, or close to the area who may have witnessed the crash, between 7.30pm and 8pm on Tuesday.
Officers are also interested in anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of a car and motorbike in the area of Bargoed town between 7.30pm and 8pm.
