Mother’s Day is now just days away
Mother’s Day is nearly upon us, and if you’ve left it to now to get a present for someone special, there’s still an opportunity to arrange something. This year, Mother’s Day takes place on Sunday, March 15, in the UK.
The Money Saving Expert (MSE) website, established by Martin Lewis, helpfully reveals how you can spoil Mum on a budget this weekend, or even present her with a gift that doesn’t cost a penny. One recommendation is to “pledge to do something nice for Mum”.
MSE offers free printable ‘Mother’s Day gift cheques’ which “let you create vouchers for your mum”. The article adds: “You could offer to do the washing up for a week, cook her dinner, or take her out for the day. When she presents it, you fulfil your pledge.”
MSE is also alerting people to the fact they can purchase flowers for mum from £1. Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Co-op, and Morrisons are stocking bunches of daffodils for £1.
Aldi’s most affordable bunch of flowers is a Pocket Money Posy for £1.99, while Lidl is offering a Pocket Money Pink Posy for £1.89. There are numerous other choices for £10 or less available at all the above supermarkets, including roses, tulips and carnations.
M&S is also providing bouquets, with complimentary delivery, from £25. And Lego is giving away a free Lego pink rose at 19 of its UK stores.
Lego says the event is aimed at children aged 10 and over. To claim the free pink rose you’ll need to visit any participating store on Saturday, March 14, between 10am and midday, or on Sunday, March 15, between midday and 2pm.
Lego said the following stores are excluded:
- Belfast
- Utilita Arena
- Legoland Windsor resort
- Manchester – Trafford Palazzo
