The teenager, named only as Alfie, who is known to visit the Barry area, was last seen on Caerleon Road in Newport at around 1pm on Tuesday, June 16.
He is described as being around 5ft 8–9in tall, with brown hair and glasses.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “Alfie, 16, has been reported missing. He was last seen on Caerleon Road, Newport, on Tuesday 16 June at around 1pm. He is known to frequent the Barry area.
“He is approximately 5ft 8–9, with brown hair and glasses.
“If you have seen Alfie or have any information that could help us find him, please get in touch quoting occurrence number 2600194106”.
The spokesperson also reassured the public that officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries in an effort to find him.
They said: “We understand Alfie was last seen a week ago and want to reassure the public that extensive enquiries have been ongoing.
“While we cannot share every detail, please be assured we are actively working to find him and make sure he is safe”.
