Morio Lounge, Barry Island, opening pushed to June 3

The opening of the Morio Lounge on Barry Island has been pushed back three weeks to June 3.

Originally scheduled to open on May 13, the lounge bar is part of one of the biggest overhauls the Island has seen for a long while, with a range of new businesses from local and national chains opening on the seafront to give a fresh feel to the area.

The restaurant occupies the old toilet block at Nell’s Point – a space that has been left unoccupied for years. Refurbishment work has been underway since the summer months to transform this disused space into something entirely new and fresh for the people of Barry.

Loungers, who will operate the bar and restaurant, say that this establishment will act as a “home-from-home” in Barry, serving up delicious food and drinks from a variety of menus for a range of tastes, right on the seafront.

Loungers operate more than 250 venues across the in England and Wales across three distinct but complementary brands, Lounge, Cosy Club and Brightside. Barry locals may already be familiar with the Ocho Lounge in nearby Penarth – a popular venue under their ‘Lounge’ umbrella.

Opening times are yet to be published for the Morio Lounge, but visitors can likely expect service from 9am to 10pm every day, as is the standard in their other venues across the country.

Their venues are described as being multipurpose, giving customers somewhere to grab a quick coffee after the busy school run, somewhere to meet with friends, and somewhere to host celebrations or a night out. Much the same can be expected from this venue, with a warm comfortable atmosphere and welcome for a diverse range of ages and even our furry four-legged friends.

While the transformation of the old toilet block into the Morio Lounge has been a long time coming – and there is still some time to go before opening – locals in Barry can look forward to the knowledge that they will have a new relaxing spot to enjoy this summer.
