A motorcyclist has died following a serious collision near the M4 in Newport, police have confirmed. A stretch of the A48 and the M4 sliproad at junction 24, Coldra roundabout, were closed for a number of hours on Thursday evening following the crash.
The collision involved a blue Audi Q8 and a white Triumph Trident motorbike. Emergency services, including officers from Gwent Police and personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Welsh Air Ambulance, attended the scene.

His family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers, Gwent Police said.
A cordon was maintained at the scene while accident investigation work was carried out. Inquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the collision.
No arrests have been made, a police spokesman confirmed.

A police statement read: “Officers were called to a collision near junction 24 of the M4 at around 4.10pm on Thursday, March 19.
“Officers attended along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Welsh Air Ambulance.
“The collision involved a blue Audi Q8 and a white Triumph Trident motorbike. The motorcyclist – a 61-year-old man from Newport – was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“His family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
“Officers from the Roads Policing and Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and an investigation is now underway to determine the full circumstances of the collision; no arrests have been made.”
