Officers remain at the scene while investigations into the collision continue
A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision on a rural road between two Monmouthshire villages.
- Emergency services were called to a crash between a car and a motorbike on Usk Road at around 1.50pm on Wednesday afternoon. The collision happened between Llangwm and Shirenewton.
- A stretch of Usk Road remains closed on Wednesday afternoon to allow accident investigation work to take place. Officers from Gwent Police attended the incident alongside the Welsh Ambulance Service.
- A police spokeswoman later confirmed the motorcyclist was taken to hospital. His injuries are believed to be serious.
- Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area. Gwent Police said diversions are in place which may cause congestion.
- A police statement read: “We received a report of a road traffic collision on Usk Road, between Llangwm and Shirenewton at around 1.50pm on Wednesday, April 8. Officers attended alongside the Welsh Ambulance Service; the collision involved a car and a motorbike. The motorcyclist has been taken to hospital; his injuries are believed to be serious.”
