The council is proposing to change the rules on dozens of routes in the popular tourist destination
Conwy Council has proposed a series of changes to roads in Llandudno and nearby Craig y Don. The local authority is putting forward Traffic Regulation Orders affecting numerous routes.
Among them is a ban on waiting at certain sections of roads throughout the coastal town. There’s also a proposal to prevent motorhomes from parking overnight along a section of Abbey Road, which stretches from West Shore towards Llandudno town centre.
A road leading off Trinity Avenue would additionally become one-way under the plans, reports North Wales Live. For the biggest stories in Wales first sign up to our daily newsletter here
Janet Finch-Saunders, Senedd member for Bangor Conwy Môn, said: “I am extremely concerned by the scale of these proposed restrictions and understand why many residents and businesses are worried about the potential impact they could have on everyday life in Llandudno.
“While I recognise the need to improve road safety where there is clear evidence, any changes must be proportionate and properly justified. Measures of this scale risk creating unnecessary difficulties for residents, affecting local businesses and making it harder for people to access the town.
“I would encourage everyone affected to take part in the public consultation and ensure their views are heard before any final decisions are made. It is vital that the Council listens carefully to local people and is prepared to reconsider any proposals that do not have community support.”
