Newport law firm Harding Evans acquires Penarth practice

Harding Evans, headquartered in Newport, has acquired Penarth-based Merrils Ede, marking its first office in the Vale.

Ken Thomas, chairman of Harding Evans, said: “This is an exciting step forward for Harding Evans.

“Following a sustained period of organic growth, the acquisition strengthens our market presence and bolsters our position as a leading regional firm.

“The right location is only part of the equation: any acquisition must also share our values and approach.

“That alignment is essential to integrating teams smoothly and maintaining the high standard of service clients expect.

“Merrils Ede is a firm we have admired for some time and this acquisition brings together two very established firms.

“We are delighted to have completed the acquisition and look forward to welcoming the team to Harding Evans.”

Merrils Ede, founded in 1865, has a long-standing private client practice.

Its six-member team will join Harding Evans as part of the acquisition.

Janet Tillyard, managing partner at Merrils Ede, said: “I am pleased to see the acquisition by Harding Evans reach fruition.

“This will allow us to provide a broader range of services to the loyal clientele we have here at Merrils Ede, so that we will be best placed to serve them going forward.”

The addition of Merrils Ede brings Harding Evans’ office count to three, joining its headquarters in Newport and a site in Whitchurch, Cardiff.

The Penarth office, located on Herbert Terrace, will offer Harding Evans’ full suite of legal services to individuals and businesses across the Vale of Glamorgan.
