One of Wales’ most Christmassy Christmas shops is open

But for one garden centre in the Vale of Glamorgan, October is never too early for Christmas.

Pugh’s Garden Village in Wenvoe has become a must-visit location for lovers of all things Christmas in recent years, with its extensive displays drawing in visitors from across the county and country.

Whilst there are unspoken rivalries and competition among high street neighbours of who has the biggest and best display, many are simply unable to compete with Pugh’s and the sheer size of its displays.

As soon as you walk into the building, you are met with a grinning Santa Claus model who sits at his own candy cane-themed dining table, complete with candles and mince pies for extra effect.

Behind this is one of the many mock displays that show visitors what their homes might look like after a little hard work during the festive period.

There are gingerbread themed kitchens, a front door that is covered in lights and flanked by nutcrackers, and a cosy living room setup complete with a snowy mountain view outside its window.

It really isn’t hard to get filled with inspiration as you walk around, passing fully set dining tables and imagining what your ideal Christmas day might look like.

There is simply no possible way of feeling like a Scrooge at Pugh’s, as reindeers croon the odd Brenda Lee classic from their enclosure and lights flash away from the various displays.

The entire back half of the shop is lit up, well, like a Christmas tree.

Lights are strung wherever there is space, filling the space with a warm glow that can’t help but make you feel cosy on these chilly autumn days.

There is simply no other way to describe the various displays around Pugh’s than “impressive”.

These displays must take hours to install and perfect and the effect they have on shoppers is immense – it’s not just myself who is awestruck walking into the room filled with the tartan patterns and glittering decorations.

Not only are the displays visually impressive but they show the wide range of products available for customers to pick up ahead of the festive season.

From tree ornaments to make your living room centrepiece perfect, snacks and treats to feed your loved ones, toys for youngsters, and lights to make your home the talk of the street, there is a little bit of everything on offer to give you a head start before Santa shows up.
