Dramatic footage shows passengers on board a Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737-300 screaming in terror as the aircraft’s ceiling reportedly collapsed during a mid-air emergency

This is the terrifying moment panicked passengers screamed in horror after a plane’s ceiling suddenly collapsed mid-flight during an airborne emergency in Iran.

Dramatic footage shows travellers crying out and ducking for cover as sections of the cabin roof came loose on board a Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737 travelling from Mashhad to Kermanshah on Tuesday (September 15).

The aircraft reportedly suffered a technical fault shortly after take-off, forcing pilots to make an emergency return to Mashhad. Unconfirmed reports suggest one of the jet’s tyres may have burst during departure, although officials have yet to verify the claims, according to The Express.

As the plane shakes violently in the video, ceiling panels can be seen partially giving way above passengers’ heads. Some travellers raise their arms to protect themselves while others attempt to hold up the damaged structure as frightened shouts echo through the cabin.

Despite the alarming scenes, the aircraft landed safely and no injuries have been reported. Flight data shows that shortly after departing at 5.30pm, the Boeing 737-300 returned to Mashhad, landing at around 5.39pm.

The Indian Express reports the passengers were safely removed from the aircraft and placed onto another flight from Mashhad, in eastern Iran, to Kermanshah in the country’s west.
