The Proud of Penarth initiative will be introduced at the society’s September event on Thursday September 17.
The presentation will be given by Vernon Cornish, who has organised several litter-reduction events in Penarth. These included two beach-cleans last year as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s annual campaign.
Mr Cornish has worked with several schools. The society hopes the new project will create regular, timetabled litter-clearing sessions across the town.
It also aims to make it easier for anyone who wants to clear an area to take action.
The society said community involvement would be central to the project, with local businesses and residents invited to take part. It said the aim was to eradicate litter in Penarth and improve the town’s appearance.
The event will take place at St Augustine’s Hall, Albert Road. Doors open at 6.30pm, with the presentation starting at 7pm.
The initiative is new, and the society is inviting people to attend to learn more about it.
Entry is free for Penarth Civic Society members. Non-members will pay £3.
