Penarth Operatic & Dramatic Society (PODS) has received multiple awards at recent ceremonies for its performances.
At the Glamorgan Drama League (GDL) One Act Play Festival, held at Chapter Arts Centre, PODS’ production of All By Myself by Robert Scott took home three major awards: Best Production, Best Innovation and Best Comedy Performance.
The award for Best Comedy Performance went to cast member Becky McVicar.
Peter Knowles, PODS Chair, said: “The One Act Play Festival is such a worthwhile venture.

“It fosters camaraderie and collaboration between companies and really enriches the world of community theatre.
“We are thrilled to be honoured with three awards from the Glamorgan Drama League and keeping fingers crossed for a place in the Wales final.”
The comedy, set in the 16th century, follows a castaway named Larry who discovers, to his surprise, that he is not alone after seven years of solitude.
The GDL festival is part of a nationwide scheme coordinated by the UK Community Drama Festivals Federation, with regional winners progressing to their country finals.
PODS now hopes for a place in the Wales final in Colwyn Bay this June.

The society also received the Outstanding Drama Production award from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association for its staging of The Ghost Train by Arnold Ridley, performed at the Paget Rooms in October.
Despite these achievements, the group remains busy.
Rehearsals are underway for We Will Rock You, which runs at the Paget Rooms from May 13 to 16.
Meanwhile, the youth group PODyS is preparing for Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr, set to be staged at Dinas Powys Parish Hall in July.
Tickets for all upcoming productions are available through the PODS website.
