Penarth, Sully, and Dinas Powys drivers in court recently

The four defendants were accused of speeding in 20mph limits and keeping vehicles which did not meet insurance requirements.

Their cases were heard in the magistrates’ courts in Swansea, Cardiff, Leamington Spa, and Wimbledon.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

MEHMET BASAR, 59, of Cannington Close, Sully, was fined £1,000 at Swansea Magistrates’ Court after being caught speeding in a 20mph limit.

Basar had six penalty points added to his licence and he was also ordered to pay £120 in costs and a £400 victim surcharge.

GARETH RICHARDS, 42, of Baron Road, Penarth, kept a vehicle that did not meet insurance requirements.

At Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, Richards was ordered to pay a £220 fine, £100 in costs, and a surcharge of £88. 

TIMOTHY LUCAS, 50, of Baron Road, Penarth, pleaded guilty to speeding in a 20mph limit.

At Cardiff Magistrates’ Court, Lucas was fined £100 and received three penalty points on his licence. He was also ordered to pay a £40 surcharge.

WAYNE SALIBA, of Caerwent Close, Dinas Powys, was fined £220 for keeping a vehicle which did not meet insurance requirements.

Leamington Spa Magistrates’ Court ordered Saliba to pay £100 in costs and an £88 surcharge.
