Person dies after bus and e-bike crash

Gwent Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the electric bicycle in the lead up to the crash to come forward

A cyclist has died after being involved in a crash with a bus on a busy Welsh route. Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash involving a bicycle and a bus at around 6am on the A48 in Pwllmeyric, near Chepstow, on July 7.

A Wales Air Ambulance was called to the crash, alongside officers from Gwent Police and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service, at around 5.55am.

Gwent Police previously said the cyclist was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition. In an update on Monday, the force said the cyclist died in hospital on Saturday, July 11. For the biggest stories in Wales first sign up to our daily newsletter here

His family has been informed, and are being supported by specialist officers continue to support them.

An investigation into the crash is continuing and officers are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed the cyclist prior to the collision.

“Investigators would like to hear from anyone who saw the cyclist travelling in the area before the collision, including motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, or anyone who may have captured relevant footage on a dashcam, CCTV system, mobile phone, or other recording device,” Gwent Police said.
