Police investigations are ongoing into the dangerous incident which happened on the A465 in Neath
A car travelling at 70mph on a major Welsh road had its windscreen smashed when someone threw rocks at it from a bridge. The incident happened on Wednesday, June 3, at around 4.45pm on the A465 in Neath.
The driver, Ryan Brettle-Jones, shared a post on social media showing extensive damage to the window. He shared: “Driving on the A465 (70 ish MPH) two people decided to throw something at my car from the bridge crossing over to Neath college.
“Not only did it smash my windscreen it shattered glass all over the car!” Stay informed on everything Neath Port Talbot by signing up to our newsletter here
Ryan recently spoke to WalesOnline about his “bubbly” three-year-old girl Lily, who suddenly became seriously ill in March.
She was later diagnosed with the WT1 gene mutation, which can lead to a wide range of conditions, including childhood kidney and urogenital cancers as well as severe progressive kidney and reproductive disorders.
As a result, Lily began dialysis – a life-sustaining treatment that performs the kidneys’ natural filtering functions – and has been placed on the kidney transplant list.
Ryan said the damage to his car prevented him from driving Lily to hospital appointments in Cardiff as he had been doing previously.
“So now my car is out of action and cannot take my poorly daughter back and forth to Cardiff hospital,” he said. “All I will say is you’re lucky my daughter was not in the car.”
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police was called at 5.30pm to the A465 Neath Interchange to reports of objects being thrown from the bridge. Investigations into this incident are ongoing and no injuries have been reported.”
