Footwear retailer Schuh is offering the incentive through its Sell Your Soles programme, which gives customers a £5 voucher for every usable pair of donated shoes.
Jordon Cox, known online as Coupon Kid UK, has praised the scheme as a simple way for shoppers to save money while reducing waste.
Mr Cox said: “Don’t throw away old shoes – you can earn money from these.
“If they’re still usable, take them to Schuh and they’ll give you a £5 voucher off your next new pair of shoes, which you can use either online or in-store.
“They’ll recycle them for someone else and you can save some money too.”
The scheme accepts shoes of any brand, not just those originally bought from Schuh.
Donated footwear must be in reasonable condition and suitable for reuse.
Schuh staff will inspect each pair to ensure they are not ripped beyond repair, burnt, mouldy, wet, contaminated, or missing essential parts such as soles, buttons, or zips.
Once accepted, the shoes are repurposed and given a second life.
The £5 voucher can be used towards any full-price pair of shoes costing more than £25, but cannot be combined with other offers or discounts.
Children’s shoes can also be donated through Schuh’s Too Big For Your Boots scheme, available at Schuh Kids stores.
Schuh says the donated footwear will be repurposed and given another life, helping customers clear unwanted pairs from their cupboards while reducing waste.
The scheme has been well received, with social media users praising the idea.
One commenter wrote: “Cheers mate, good tips.”
Another simply said: “Excellent.”
Schuh reminds customers that all donations are final and shoes cannot be returned once handed in.
The Sell Your Soles scheme is available at any Schuh branch.
