Film fans should take advantage of this discounted deal before it ends on May 31

A deal-stacking offer could give Tesco shoppers an excuse to watch the latest film releases at Cineworld for a fraction of the usual price. The promotion – which includes screenings on weekends and the bank holiday – was recently flagged up by the team behind Martin Lewis‘ MoneySavingExpert (MSE).

Rather than holding onto Clubcard points, shoppers could double the value of their checkout loyalty points and use them to secure discounted cinema tickets from £2.50. The promotion is only available at cinema chains throughout the UK for just over a week.

How does the ’50p deal’ work?

According to the MSE website, Tesco Clubcard holders can ‘convert’ their loyalty points into vouchers redeemable for cut-price cinema tickets. Every 50p worth of Clubcard points converted becomes £1 when exchanged for a Cineworld code, reports the Mirror.

MSE said: “Clubcard members can get up to four Cineworld tickets for £5 any day of the week until Sunday, May 31. This means it’ll only be £2.50 when converting Clubcard vouchers to double the value.

“To get the £5 tickets, you need to convert a minimum of 50p in Clubcard vouchers, so you can still get a cheap ticket even if you don’t have £2.50-worth of vouchers to cover the full discounted price. It is valid for any standard 2D screening (extra charges apply for premium formats).”

Tesco’s website explains: “When you’ve completed your order, look out for a confirmation email and a second email containing your Partner code. If you placed your order in the app, your code will appear in the ‘My Rewards’ section within 15 minutes.

“To redeem your code, either click the link in the email to the Partner site and enter your code where asked. If you ordered in the app, this link can be found in ‘How to redeem’ in the ‘My Rewards’ section. Alternatively, when you get to the cinema, show the code on your phone or in a clearly printed email.”

Usually, the offer is only valid on Tuesdays, but through to the end of May, customers are able to take advantage of it on any day of the week. The deal is limited to four tickets per transaction.

What’s showing at Cineworld until May 31?

Cineworld currently operates 90 cinemas across the UK and Ireland. You can find a local cinema and book tickets directly through the Cineworld Cinema Finder tool online here.

Film fans can use this Tesco deal to catch the latest releases or revisit beloved classics on the big screen. At the time of writing (May 20), titles such as The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Sheep Detectives, Michael and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are all showing at cinemas across the UK.

Later this week, several new releases are set to arrive, including Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu and Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass (both launching on May 22). Reduced-price tickets can also be applied to the limited screenings and classic re-releases that Cineworld provides, with certain venues showing anniversary editions of Shrek and Legally Blonde (both marking 25 years since their release) as well as Top Gun (commemorating 40 years since Maverick’s first on-screen flight).

For specific details in your area, visit the Cineworld website. Customers will see exact screening times and any premium format availability – such as IMAX, 4DX, or ScreenX – which will differ depending on location.
