She spotted a problem, now she’s built a Sully business solving it

Sorenna opened its impressive new unit at Windmill Parc on September 26, welcoming in family, friends and industry professionals for a packed opening day they won’t forget in a hurry.

The business is the brainchild of Cassie Jacobsen and her brother Tom.

Ms Jacobsen has a wealth of experience in salons, having worked in the industry since she was 16 and as a salon owner in Cardiff and Barry for 16 years.

Her years of experience and travelling to pick up products for use in her salon led her to spot a gap in the market: there was nowhere local for beauticians to shop for their businesses.

Gilmor’s Salon Equipment filled that gap in Barry until its closure in recent years, meaning shoppers had to travel to the next nearest stockist in Cardiff – something Ms Jacobsen said was “too much” when you’re busy trying to run a salon and keep clients happy.

She felt “there was a need in the area” for a business like her own and since leaving her salon three weeks ago, she hasn’t looked back.

She said: “Everybody has been really positive about it – we just want to grow now.

“Loads of people I’ve either worked with or know from when we were in college and businesses together have already been down.”

They help local professionals stock their businesses with the latest hair colours, shampoos, toners, and exclusive products from Davroe.

But there is already more on the cards for Sorenna.

The business is looking to expand and support the next generation of beauticians and haircare professionals with an education room that will become a beauty school in future.

It will aim to offer a range of courses including colour education, short and long hair courses, and anything else with variety that will be able to help those who want to learn get their foot in the door in the industry.

Sorenna is open exclusively to trade hair and beauty professionals throughout the week and on Saturday mornings and offers free local delivery across the Vale of Glamorgan when spending more than £30.
