Crews from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service have responded to 46 water-related emergencies in the past year, many in fast-moving rivers and tidal areas.
Firefighters have recently been undertaking intensive water rescue training at Cardiff International White Water Centre, sharpening their specialist skills.
A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Remember to stay away from the water’s edge, think before entering unfamiliar water and call 999 immediately if someone is in trouble”.
