South Wales Police were called to Park Road, near Porthkerry Park, at around 10.30pm on Monday, April 13 following reports of an assault and “loud bangs” likened to the sound of gunshots.
No victim has yet been identified or come forward.
Seven people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “Officers investigating an incident in Park Road, Barry, are continuing their appeal for information.
“Police were called to Park Road, near Porthkerry Park, at around 10.30pm Monday, April 13.
“There were reports that a person had been assaulted and of ‘loud bangs’ like gun shots.
“However, no victim has come forward nor been identified”.
One of those arrested, 18-year-old Dominic Bily from Llanrumney in Cardiff, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and has been remanded in custody.
Six others remain on police bail while enquiries continue.
