Street Food Circus to return to St Donat’s Castle in August

by David Jones

Street Food Circus will transform the Vale of Glamorgan venue into a “remixed, 21st-century village fête” during its annual Fantastic Fête, promising a packed programme of circus shows, family entertainment and outdoor feasting.

The event will take place across two weekends on August 1-2 and August 8-9.

Matt the Hat, founder of Street Food Circus, said: “We are thrilled to be back at St Donat’s – it’s a truly unique site, set between the castle and the sea.

“We’ve reinvented the classic village fête with our travelling circus of attractions, the best street food around and lots of new activities to keep the whole family entertained.

“We think it’s the complete summer day out.”

Highlights will include high-wire acts, circus performances and street food from some of Wales’ top vendors.

This year’s line-up features The Dough Thrower, Hang Fire BBQ, Poutine Punks and Ceylon & Beyond, with additional vendors such as Mama Lala and TNT Tacos on the first weekend, and Hakko House and Paletas on the second.

Entertainment will include the “the World’s Biggest Bouncy Castle”, Mexican wrestling, a vintage roller rink, crazy golf, a bubble disco and a circus school for children.

For adults, there will be DJs, axe throwing, an indie market and the Lido swimming pool.

As the day winds down, the event will shift to its After Dark party, featuring music and fire shows.

Tickets are on sale now at the Street Food Circus website.
