Swimmer scare sparks lifeboat search off Vale coast

by David Jones

Barry Dock RNLI launched its all-weather lifeboat at 5.10pm on Sunday, July 26 following concerns raised by RNLI lifeguards at Llantwit Major and the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) at St Donat’s.

The lifeboat headed to the area between Llantwit Major and St Donat’s and carried out a full search.

No one was found in the water and the crew was stood down.

Barry Dock RNLI said the incident “serves as a reminder” to always alert the coastguard.
