In a statement, South Wales Police said officers were called to the area at 5.31pm on April 1 to reports of a young person in the river.
Officers attended alongside the police helicopter, paramedics and fire and rescue crews, and a teenager was taken to hospital.
The force said extensive enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances leading to the incident.
