Gwent Police said investigations are ongoing to identify all those involved in the shocking incident
A number of teenagers have been arrested after footage circulated online showing a horror brawl which broke out in Newport.
An investigation is underway into the altercation, which saw over a dozen youngsters – both male and female – involved in a brawl in Upper Dock Street late on Friday evening, September 11. Footage shared online shows the group punching and kicking one another.
At one point, a pair appear to be grappling on the floor while others aim violent kicks towards those on the ground.
Gwent Police said no serious injuries were reported following the incident.
The shocking footage, shared anonymously online, shows around a dozen young people throwing punches, exchanging swear words, and stamping on others who are lying on the floor.
In one clip, a boy appears to try to run off while another chases him and continues trying to throw punches. In another, two boys are punching and grappling with one another while a girl appears to try to kick them.
Gwent Police said it understands the community will find the footage “distressing”. Officers were said to be on the scene within minutes of the report being made.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and violent disorder, and a 16-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder following the incident. Both have been released from custody while investigations continue.

A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: “We received a report of an altercation on Upper Dock Street, Newport at around 10.30pm on Friday 11 September.
“Multiple people were reportedly seen fighting in the area; no serious injuries have been reported.
“A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and violent disorder and has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
“A 16-year-old girl was later arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and has since been released on conditional bail as enquiries continue.”
Inspector Martyn Pugh added: “We understand that this incident, and the footage circulating on social media, may cause concern in the community.
“However, our officers, who were close by patrolling the city as part of the City Safe initiative, were on the scene within two minutes of receiving the report.
“We have made two arrests so far, and we are working closely with our partners to identify the other individuals involved.”
